Kansas was the first state to legalize prohibition and the last state to repeal it. This seriously restricted the budding vineyard community in early 1900s Kansas, and, because of strict alcohol laws, Kansan winemakers weren't truly able to get back on their feet until the late 1980s. But this setback has not kept Kansas vineyards and wineries from producing some delicious wines for the past few decades.
