The site has been consistently growing over the last 10 years, and now is even considered the leader of “new media”, challenging the traditional industries of film and television. Although a vast number of the users are individuals, many large media corporations have pages as well. The site allows certain pages to monetize their content, with YouTube sharing the money generated from advertising revenue with the channel, as long as the content doesn't violate any copyright terms. Also, YouTube gives me a paycheck, so I only have nice things to say about that :)
